Innovation in teacher education: the TCIEM project in the Faculty of Education in Palencia

Within the framework of the TCIEM project, important results have been obtained that are having an impact on several Spanish educational centres, as well as on the training of future teachers of infant and primary education at the Palencia Faculty of Education of the University of Valladolid.
The research has focused on the analysis of creative playgrounds with multisensory installations to study the extent to which they enable the development of transversal competences in children in various schools in Spain. This experience has not only enriched school spaces, but has also become a valuable training tool for university students, as the main research results are taken to university classrooms.
Through methodologies such as Project Based Learning (PBL) and Service Learning (SL), future teachers participate in the design and construction of creative playgrounds. These spaces allow children to explore, play and learn in stimulating environments adapted to their needs.
The report ‘Playgrounds to create and play’ documents this project and its benefits for the education community. You can watch it here to find out more and discover how innovation and creativity are integrated into teacher training.

Such initiatives not only improve educational environments, but also prepare future teachers to design innovative and meaningful learning experiences.
