Teacher identity in the music classroom and secondary education

Juliana Rigon Pedrini (member of the TCIEM project and PhD student of José Luis Aróstegui Plaza, Principal Investigator 1 of the project) participated with a presentation at the First Multidisciplinary Educational Research Conference of the Faculty of Education Sciences of Granada last June. Juliana shared an analysis of the construction of teacher identity based on the observation of a novice music teacher at a secondary school in Granada from the perspective of a more experienced teacher who accompanies the observed teacher on a daily basis.

In her analysis, she highlighted two key aspects in the formation of teacher identity: the relationship with students, which is built through emotional bonds, active listening and adaptive pedagogical decisions; and the relationship with the observing teacher, experienced as a space of trust, dialogue and professional development.
