On March 20, 2024, an exhibition that fuses art, education and inclusion was inaugurated at the La Yutera campus of the University of Valladolid. The exhibition will be open to the public until May 5, 2024.
An Innovative Look at Early Childhood Education:
This interdisciplinary project and based on PBL (Project Based Learning) methodology arises in the framework of the collaboration of the competitive research project TCIEM (Transversality, Creativity and Inclusion in School Music Projects: An Evaluative Research), funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Government of Spain and two teaching innovation projects of the University of Valladolid: AMEI (Inclusive Experimental Model Classroom in the Areas of Expression for the Grades of Education) and UVaMusEA (A university-museum collaboration project on arts education).
The research results of the TCIEM project serve as a substrate for the training of university students in the last year of the Artistic Expression and Communication and Motricity Mention of the Early Childhood Education Degree with the fusion of three subjects and the collaboration of seven teachers, with continuity in the Practicum and the Final Degree Project.
Transformation of Schoolyards:
The initiative seeks to adapt schoolyards to children, proposing the transformation of these spaces into green and inclusive and more artistic and musical environments. This approach seeks to offer opportunities to connect with nature, promote wellbeing and foster the integral development of children, prioritizing transversal competencies.
The artistic installations created by the students of the Early Childhood Education Degree combine musical, plastic and corporal aspects. These creative projects seek to transform outdoor spaces in an immersive way, exploring new forms of artistic expression within the educational environment.
Collaboration with schools within the framework of TCIEM:
On November 20, schoolchildren from the Palencia schools CEIP Juan Mena and CEIP Gómez Manrique were able to experiment with the installations. These schools are joined by CEIP Allue Morer from Valladolid and Casa Escuela Activa from Palencia, which are working on designing and implementing these more active, artistic and inclusive playgrounds that favor the development of transversal competencies and that are being investigated in the TCIEM project.
Public presentation:
The exhibition was presented to the public on March 20 at the exhibition hall of the La Yutera campus of the University of Valladolid. The exhibition consists of a set of images and resources made by the students as part of the graphic testimony of the creative process.
